At the heart of the Three Valleys, Méribel is a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders from across the globe, and a particular favourite of the Brits. This middle valley gives you easy access to both nearby Courchevel and the Belleville Valley (Val Thorens, Les Menuires and St Martin de Belleville) giving you 600 kms of pistes to explore.

From a skiing perspective, Méribel offers flat open terrain, pretty tree runs and steep faces. But it’s not only the skiing that makes Méribel such a popular spot. Méribel also has a strong reputation for lively apres ski - with both the infamous Folie Douce and the Rond Point bustling by mid-afternoon.

Private transfers to Méribel

Getting from Geneva Airport to Méribel

Getting from Geneva Airport to Méribel is easy and hassle-free via private airport transfer. Your driver will usually take the route via the stunning Lac d’Annecy as it’s quicker, and avoids the worst of the traffic in busy weeks. The distance is approximately 140 kms, and takes about 2 hrs 20 mins. Our drivers are familiar with the mountain roads and winter driving, ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey. So you can sit back, relax and take in the scenery.

Getting from Lyon Airport to Méribel

Although a little further than some of the other local airports, Lyon is still a great option if you’re holidaying in Méribel. It’s a decent sized airport with good amenities and flights are rarely affected by poor weather. It takes about 2 hrs 10 to cover the 180 km - comparable in time to other airports as it’s mostly motorway and dual carriageway driving, where you can cover ground quickly. Due to the increased fuel and tolls, the journey is a little more expensive than those to other nearby airports. It’s worth noting that the roads can get very busy in peak weeks with tourists from all over Europe, so the journey time could increase substantially.

Getting from Chambéry Airport to Méribel

Chambéry Airport is the closest airport to the French Alps, including Méribel. The distance is approximately 110 kms, which is reachable in about 90 mins door-to-door - perfect if you want to keep travel time to a minimum. That said, due to the size and capabilities of the airport you can experience delays or diversions in poor weather, which might be something to consider if you’re yet to book your travel.

Getting from Grenoble Airport to Méribel

At a distance of around 190 kms from Méribel, Grenoble Airport is another decent option for travellers heading to Méribel and the Three Valleys. Private transfers from Grenoble to Méribel take about 2 hrs 10 mins, taking in some beautiful scenery, including Lake Paladru, a turquoise-blue glacial lake.

Getting from Moutiers Train Station to Méribel

If you’re arriving by train, you’ll leave the train in Moutiers, 20 kms or a short drive from Méribel. While there are some public buses available, these aren’t always that convenient if you have a lot of luggage, as the bus stops may be some distance from your accommodation. Instead, let us take the heavy lifting, whisking you door-to-door in around 30 mins.

Where to stay in Méribel

Méribel Centre

The main village of the resort, Méribel Centre is at the centre of the action, with a lively atmosphere with an abundance of bars and restaurants. The main ski centre (the Chaudanne) is where most of the ski schools meet, and offer quick routes up, up and away, so you can easily explore Méribel and the wider 3 Valleys. The resort altitude varies from 1,450m in the resort centre, up to 1,700m at the altiport, with accommodation dotted along the route up. While there is plenty of ski-in ski-out accommodation in Méribel, the size of the resort means that most chalets and accommodation involve a short bus ride to the slopes.

Méribel Mottaret

Sitting at around 1,750m, Méribel Mottaret is a purpose-built village dating back to the 1970s, that is quite literally in the mountains. With such close proximity to the slopes it’s great for those looking to maximise ski time. It’s also one of the more affordable of the villages, with lots of reasonably priced apartments to choose from.

Méribel Village

This small village (1,400m) is perfect for those who prefer a small village feel to the busier atmosphere of the likes of Méribel Centre. In the centre of the village is one bar - The Lodge du Village (or LDV as it’s more commonly known) - with a lovely sun terrace, great food, and some lively apres ski sessions. There’s also a shop and bakery, giving you everything you need for a week in resort. There’s a single chairlift (Lapin) out of resort, and a lovely blue run by the same name, which guides you back through the trees. If you’ve got lessons booked it’s worth noting that most of the schools meet in Méribel Centre, however it’s easily reached by the free and regular bus service.

Les Allues

Popular with locals and seasonal workers, Les Allues is a charming village, populated year round. Situated at 1,100m, it’s a little lower down, but the slopes are easily reached by the free bus service, or by taking the Olympe bubble. With a few restaurants and bars and a little shop, it has all you need for a relaxed stay in Méribel. As it’s a little further out, accommodation can be a little more affordable here.
